Oh my goodness! It has actually been a full month since I last posted on here. Now I don’t really know if anybody missed me, but I was kept quite busy.
I suddenly discovered this half-baked excerpt I’d worked on. It felt like a fever dream reading it because it had been one of those writing sessions where I’d flicked out my phone and began typing away until it died. The morning after, not even remembering I’d written it.
But here it is!

“Those who have gathered here today shall be known no longer as men of Thane. We recognise the divine territory of Yorne, and seek to share this knowledge with those who do not yet believe. It will be a long time yet before the land yields to us. I suspect all present will have fled our earthly vessels before the babes are quiet in the embrace of Our Lord.
The Order of Ko must be prepared for retaliation because the folk of this land fear what they do not understand. We must make them understand, by all manner of subtle or violent means. We must take the temples of their gods and spirits, take their fathers and mothers, to mould them from soul to skin. This Order of ours is not only to uphold the philosophies of Ko, the values of the individual, of principalities, of reformation; but be a beacon to our unending piety to He whom gave us our creed.
We will be wary, of all who claim to know wiser than He. We will be strict, in our virtuous worship, cementing His contributions into the fabric of this new age.
The time has come to lay waste to these witches and queens of The Hunt, these men and women who live as the dogs that are wild and savage. To preach above all else, the grace and civility of The Order. To serve utterly and completely at the feet of Our Lord, Kophistome.
We shall cast our votes to the individual who shall lay closest to the Almighty’s Throne. Who shall be the first voice for Yorne and all its little children. Let him be known forever, as The First Hierophant. He who hears the voice of Ko.”
— Transcribed speech of Cleric Helio, before the First Vote of the Clerics.
Later memorialised as ‘Preachings of War’ by The First Hierophant.
I recently started a new job, was looking to relocate in a city I barely know, and altogether dealt with some high-stress environments. I never stopped writing though.
I had days when I felt I’d let myself down, but still I plodded some sentences down for my novel. I slowly explored the idea of writing short stories. I found a short story competition quite late, and almost tried to write something in six days. That was a no go! So I found one WAY closer to home, and began plotting.
The other day I submitted it. Do I think it’s winning material? Not really. It’s all in good fun. I won’t be able to publish it here though, but I will provide further news at some future date.
So, I found myself wanting to write and release something, with my novel coming so dreadfully slow.
Please feel free to go check out my other excerpts. And to leave a like or comment (even if it’s scathing). You don’t know how much it means to me.
